Never underestimate the power of a small group of committed people to change the world. In fact, it is the only thing that ever has.
— Margaret Mead.
I am creating and developing this site to create a space for information for parents and guardians of students currently attending York Memorial Collegiate Institute. By doing this (on my own) I intend to manage the information in a more timely and relevant manner than would be otherwise available. All opinions are mine.
Let’s start with the obvious – NONE of us want to be here…and by “here” I mean in the position of advocating for our students, teachers and school after:
- suffering the loss of our building on May 6 & 7, 2019, and our personal items
- the subsequent rapid re-settlement at George Harvey Collegiate Institute in a dual-school format
- advocating for re-location at Scarlett Heights (15 Trehorne, Etobicoke)
- receiving the Initial Staff Report for the Modified Pupil Review (January 29, 2020)
And yet, here we are.
I believe we, the parents and guardians of York Memo students, deserve to be heard and seen in a process that has already been created to limit our voice. We are a diverse and somewhat chaotic group – but I feel that we can unite and work together to influence the path our future school may take. The time is NOW, the Board gears have already begun to turn…

I am with YMCI staff, students and parents all the way
